Take You Places Verse 1 You’ve already said you’re running, so go ahead and go, But what if I told you honey, you’re not alone? Pre Chorus 1 You hang your head when you know you’re wrong, And with your death cradled in your arms, And with a bottle by your heart, You love it to the end you’re loving it so hard. Chorus 1 You love it like it could take you places But honey I could take you places. Verse 2 Nothing much comes from running, with that old ball and chain. But what if I told you honey, it’s all a game? Pre Chorus 1 You hang your head when you know you’re wrong, And with your death cradled in your arms, And with a bottle by your heart, You love it to the end you’re loving it so hard. Chorus 1 You love it like it could take you places But honey I could take you places. Bridge Put on a show for me, let it slip for a stranger, when we’re out for the day, Then the whole world but me, they’re going to notice, that you’re not okay. Ooh ooh, do you know that you do that? Ooh Ooh ooh, do you know that you do that? Pre Chorus 1 You hang your head when you know you’re wrong, And with your death cradled in your arms, And with a bottle by your heart, You love it to the end you’re loving it so hard. Chorus 1 You love it like it could take you places But honey I could take you places.

Lovebomb 03:24
Lovebomb Verse 1 It’s a fine line between sultry and half cut These days you let me know what you like by telling me what I’m not Pre Chorus 1 And I could spend my days in a daydream haze Thinking back to the time Chorus 1 When you said that you loved me, And damn you were convincing You shouted it to the sky To anybody listening Post-Chorus 1 Though I made it out alive, Parts of me are still missing. Verse 2 You lured me in with honeyed words and loving gestures Gave the time of day to parts of me that others wasted. Pre Chorus 1 When you first stopped the flow, I didn’t know Things were never going to return, Chorus 1 To when you said that you loved me, And damn you were convincing You shouted it to the sky To anybody listening Post-Chorus 1 To everyone’s surprise I made it out alive. Verse 3 Your passion, a wild stallion of promises unbidden, Took me on a ride that I’ve not yet forgiven. Pre Chorus 3 Now they teach us to turn the other cheek, But I’ve got my eye on yours. Chorus 3 Cos you said that you loved me, And damn you were convincing You shouted it to the sky To anybody listening Post-Chorus 3 And that fire deep inside Is going to come back to life Cos I made it out this time. I made it out alive.

run for your life Verse 1 There’s a party in your mind and in your heart And I got my invitation in the dark. Pre Chorus 1 And they said, ‘Run for your life,’ One look and, ‘Run for your life,’ Chorus But all I wanna do is sit back down with you If sadness is your way then I’ll always be blue And they said, ‘Run for your life, Come on and get out in time.’ Verse 2 Better dry your eyes darling, it’s not that important. We only came here for the poetry and some water. Pre Chorus 2 Well run for your life, I’m meant to run for my life. Chorus 2 But all I wanna do is sit back down with you If sadness is your way then I’ll always be blue And they said, ‘Run for your life, Come on and get out in time.’ Run Run Chorus 3 But all I wanna do is sit back down with you If sadness is your way then I’ll always be blue And they said, ‘Run for your life, Come on and get out in time.’

Be Bad 03:09
Be Bad Verse 1 Feel like dancing tonight, feels like nothing is quite going to be this way again. I’ll wait for the wolves to depart, and those vampires at last, now the magic can start. Pre Chorus 1 Oh I thought I knew you well, Aint we all the devil in our own private hell? Chorus 1 But you’re running like there’s some great prize to be had, And you’re holding out for one last chance to be bad, Baaaaaaaad, ooh Be bad Verse 2 Pity lay at the heart of our love, an apologetic dove dropped the branch into the mud The buyers and the sellers of pain, one drinking in the rain, the other avoiding blame. Pre Chorus 2 Our lives so mixed up I couldn’t tell, What was yours till that image of you fell. Chorus 2 Now you’re running like there’s some great prize to be had, And you’re holding out for one last chance to be bad, Baaaaaaaad, ooh Be bad Ooh

Accidental 03:53
Accidental Verse 1 Well I’ve heard it said that you’re only lonely if you, Feel it all the time, When you’re by yourself or with another cos it’s, Only in your mind. Pre Chorus 1 Hey darling with your broken eyes and your, And your magnetic arms. Chorus 1 Bet you’re wondering how I could choose the dark Like I hadn’t even felt a single spark Well I wonder if you realise that for all you tried you Couldn’t break my heart, oh woah woah woah Verse 2 Oh the perfect timing, you fell over with an Awkward long goodbye. Let your precious cards slip for a second with a Sycophantic smile. Pre Chorus 2 Hey darling with your broken mind and your, And your prosthetic heart. Chorus 2 Bet you’re wanting me to show up at your door Like those other girls were drooling on your floor ‘Now the worst is past,’ you said, but I bet That your words and intent, Bet you’re wondering how I could choose the dark Like I hadn’t even felt a single spark Well I Choose my own light Bridge Don’t know what the fuss was, you running naked In a storm in a pond, you were just splashing around. Spitting out some nonsense about, how I’ll regret this Cos we’re nothing without love, we are nothing without love, Oh but honey, it wasn’t love. Verse 3 Well here we are and I’m feeling lonely but it’s Better on my own, Than to be ignored once the dust had settled, Stripped back to the bone. Pre Chorus 2 Hey darling with your crazy eyes and your, And your desire to rule. Chorus 3 Bet you’re wondering how I could make this move, When you set it up so I’d depend on you, I was nearly in your grasp but you slipped and I accidentally Saw right through. Bet you’re wondering how I could choose the dark Like I hadn’t even felt a single spark Well I Choose my own light I choose mine

Too Wild 04:32
Too Wild Verse 1 Unpredictable, how can anybody tell when you’re being real? Are you in control of your own fantasis or are you just looking to feel? Pre Chorus 1 Tear it down and we can build it up slowly. There is nothing either good or unholy. Chorus 1 But you and I We’re just a little bit too wild. Verse 2 You and I together, bleeding souls forever, do we follow that path? Or is there something other than what we can picture cos it’s not in our past? Pre Chorus 2 Tear it down and we can build it up slowly. There is nothing either good or unholy. Love will take the path that she best chooses, Sacred or profane there’s winners and losers, Chorus 2 But you and I We’re just a little bit too wild. Pre Chorus 3 Tear it down and we can build it up slowly. There is nothing either good or unholy. Love will take the path that she best chooses, Sacred or profane there’s winners and losers, Chorus 3 But you and I We’re just a little bit too wild.

about

Choose Your Own Light is the newest release from Catherine Traicos. It features six melodic indie pop songs that highlight Traicos’ ethereal and powerful vocals. In their more epic moments the songs recall the wild seascapes of the west coast of Australia. In their happier ones, a joyful hoedown.

While often concerned with darker themes of alcoholism, depression and codependency, the songs retain a footstomping lightness and an inescapably enjoyable pop aesthetic.

This raises these issues into a new light where they can be viewed from a different angle and possibly transformed. “Writing about the songs after a while makes me see that a lot of them, a lot of my songwriting has an intentional aspect to it. That in writing the song I free myself of pain and in sharing it, I hope to allow others to do so too.”
